Type Locality and Naming
Along the Aktoyak River, Mount S. Nuratau. Deposits established by Z.M. Abdouazimova and O.N. Khaletskaya in 1958 (5 , p.9). Named by Yu.V. Shumakov and L.I. Skakun in 1982 (1984). Stratotype Along the Aktoyak River in tectonic scales and blocks.
Synonym: Aktoyak Suite, Актюжская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Mica slates, siltstone (aleurolites), layers of clayey limestones. Thickness 70-100m.

Regional extent
South Nuratau, northern slope of Karakchatay, basins of the Aktoyak and Mulla-Malya rivers. Analog of the lower part of the Badamchaly Fm (165; 371). R.S. Khan et al. (1989), V.S. Korsakov et al. (1993), R.R. Usmanov et al. (1999) include the Aktyuzh Fm in the composition of the Badamchaly Fm.

Contains graptolites of the Arenig - Expansograptus abnormis (Hsü), E. cf. hirundo (Hsü), E. suecicus robustus (Monz.), Acrograptus aff. affinis (Nich.); chitinozoa - Desmochitina ornensis Paris., D. minor Eis.; conodonts - Oistodus (?) sp. ind.; radiolarians.
